From a very young age I was always drawn to music. My musical journey started off with piano lessons, which later on evolved into composition, voice and bass lessons, a variety of interdisciplinary projects and concerts and further studies around the world. In 2013 I began my path in music academia through the University of Malta, within which I did my first Bachelor’s degree in Classical Contemporary Composition and History of Art and Architecture. Following this I started expanding my horizons outside of my home country and participated in several short courses and festivals in Italy, Chile and Panama, after which I settled in Boston for 5 years and did my second Undergraduate degree in Jazz Composition and Performance at Berklee College of Music.

During this time I had the wonderful honor to study with world renowned amazing mentors such as Terri Lyne Carrington, Danilo Perez, John Patituci, Joe Lovano, Dave Liebman, Adam Cruz, Kenny Werner, Neil Leonard, Lisa Thorson, Nando Michelin and many more. Throughout my years at Berklee I was an active member of the Berklee Global Jazz Institute, the Jazz and Gender Justice Institute, the Interdisciplinary Arts Institute as well as the Effortless Mastery Institute. These studies lead to some key experiences and performances in Boston and deepened my passion for jazz, contemporary music and music with a social cause.

Following my studies at Berklee I also delved into Traditional Hindustani Indian Singing with my mentor Isheeta and this has also lead me to a 3 month journey in India, before settling in New York City at the beginning of 2023, to complete my Masters in Performance and Composition at The New School.

Towards the end of my Studies at Berklee I had founded The Dancing Eyes Project - an interdisciplinary project with the aim of providing the experience of visual impairment to musicians and audiences who don’t have it, through the use of animated graphic scores. This project, which is still active and in constant development, is the culmination of all of the things that form my identity as an artist. It is not only a space where I share my visual media art and my compositions but it also provides space for group improvisation and a blend of styles and approaches, a direct reflection of the intersectionality within my identity as a visually impaired Maltese woman in America. All this translates into my music studio and the work I do with my students in distinct ways. Because of my visual impairment and the skills I had to gain to cope with it, both in day to day life and the music world, I believe I have a specific sensibility towards students with different needs and find this work to be especially rewarding. In my current teaching practice I work with people of all ages, including kids, teens, adults and seniors and I offer a curriculum that is open to different instruments and levels.
